 DataCore Partners With Eastern Data Inc. to Further Extend Affordable Storage Virtualization to the Mid-MarketPartnership targets 'low-cost disk servers,' disaster recovery and consolidation solutionsFORT LAUDERDALE -- May 20, 2005 -- DataCore Software today announced that it has entered into partnership with Eastern Data Inc. The partnership will expand Eastern Data’s product and service delivery options and the company will serve as an additional solution provider for DataCore with the authorized technical capabilities to resell DataCore’s simple ‘iSCSI LAN disk server systems’ to mid-market accounts or to architect larger-scale storage networks and virtual infrastructure solutions. "We see DataCore as a very viable solution in the marketplace," said Robert Reich, President, Eastern Data Inc. "This partnership ultimately gives us a new, different and cost-effective way to deliver data storage and infrastructure solutions to our customer base." In particular, Eastern Data Inc. expects DataCore’s SANmelodyTM product to deliver large cost-savings to its customer base for their data storage needs. DataCore’s SANsymphonyTM product has already been successfully deployed at several hospitals and larger accounts in the Tidewater, Virginia area - Eastern Data’s primary geographic focus. Eastern Data Inc. will sell DataCore’s products primarily to the mid-market, where the deployments traditionally encompass 50-75 users. "We see SANmelody as more of a mass-market data virtualization product that we can easily market, sell and deploy into our existing customer base, particularly those that need high-end capabilities and the flexibility and productivity of a SAN - without having to pay the high-cost to implement and maintain them," said Jim McCoy, Director of IT, Eastern Data Inc. Eastern Data Inc. has been in operation for eighteen years. The company has recently concentrated on disaster recovery, business continuity planning and consolidation. "The demand for consolidation is really where DataCore fits into our strategic plans," said Reich. "We recently also teamed with VMware and we have used DataCore in conjunction with VMware to provide our users complete virtual infrastructures that consolidate resources and add flexibility. We have found this to be a very good fit."
