Red Letter Day for DataCore - Storage Virtualization Vendor Inks Partnership With Red Sky Solutions
Partnership Provides Customers a Path Forward For Data Storage That Is High-Performance, Hardware-Independent, Cost-Effective, and Technically Superior
FORT LAUDERDALE -- June 15, 2005 -- DataCore Software today announced that it has forged a new partnership with Red Sky Solutions ("Red Sky"), an
IT solution provider that was looking for a simple to use storage solution that is high-performance, heterogeneous in nature - by way of interoperability
and flexibility - and cost-effective.
"We found that DataCore had a superior product from a technical standpoint and by that I mean both capabilities and performance," said Dave Brown,
Technical Account Manager, Red Sky Solutions. "We view having DataCore in our technology arsenal as a genuine competitive advantage over other VARs
and resellers in our particular market."
"Many of the resellers Red Sky bumps into have not made the leap to embracing virtualization and flexible infrastructures," said George Teixeira,
CEO, DataCore. "Rather, they are still just selling boxes. Red Sky chose to be in sync with what their customer base really needs and have adopted
the mindset to be thinking ahead in terms of what forward-looking customers will need next."
The partnership has already proven itself in the form of newly signed customer Varian Medical Systems. Varian took to heart the premise that virtual
storage and virtual servers make sense.* Varian has deployed two DataCore SANmelody based systems. In addition, DataCore and Red Sky customer Utah Education
Network has already licensed the higher-end SANsymphony product for larger scale storage network infrastructure management.
According to Brown, in terms of ease-of-use the product is "head and shoulders" above any he has seen. "If you can operate the Microsoft Windows disk
management user interface, then you can operate DataCore," he said. Current prospects of Red Sky are asking for ways to manage and protect their disks.
Because the DataCore virtualization software makes it simple to manage different storage types, such as iSCSI or Fibre Channel as well as internal disks, Red
Sky is looking to DataCore to manage systems as one entity from a single, DataCore-driven unit.
"Customers are coming to Red Sky in order to realize cost-savings through virtualization, among other objectives," said John Legge, Vice President of
Sales, Red Sky Solutions. "As a company, what we have done is fund and build-out domain expertise in certain solutions that we provide because we are
proficient in those areas, including security, storage, networking devices, as well as voice over IP (VOIP). Having put these stakes in the ground in
terms of our target markets, what we then did is research the best vendor per category that we could represent. We feel strongly that DataCore is the
leader in the data storage market."
Red Sky targets enterprise customers, which they define as having 500 employees and more. The company is also in the process of expanding by hiring
experienced individuals to add greater focus on the small-to-medium-sized market (SMB).
